Prologue
September 2008
The first bell had just rung at West High; this was the final year of everyone.
Grade 12, a year that every student would be looking forward to, there would be excursion and graduation. Everyone was so excited, and of course, Serena was not an exception.
Happy times always hided sadness, the most miserable thing to do during the beginning of the year was to stay out of someone’s life. Being so close, always hurt the most. Sam never learnt that from the easy way, and now it’s time he learnt it from the hard way.
There were some people who just knew exactly how to ruin other’s perfect day, and they smiled after that. They never knew to learn it’s time to stop; they just did it on and on until they reached the point of no return and everything would be over for them.
Watch out, Sam and Serena! This year was not going to be easy…..so much was lying in waiting…..
Chapter 1
September 2009
Getting up early in the morning, Sam Parker took a shower, combed his hair, putting on his neatly black shirt and his favorite jeans. He looked at himself in the mirror.
He looked handsome.
Even though he looked gorgeous, girls loved him but it meant nothing to him, his mind was only on one person. He hoped to see her soon, but he wondered how they would feel when they see each other.
He put on his sneakers and set off. The sun was shining brightly, he ducked in his pocket for his DKNY sunglasses, and he put it on and walked to the parking lot to retrieve his Volvo and drove to
“Hey, Sam!”
“Hey, Nance.” Sam smiled and put on the seatbelt.
“Looking forward to school?”
“Absolutely.” Sam replied and drove off. He really was looking forward to school. He hoped this year was going to be better. He wanted to forget about the past and had everything started all over again.
The Volvo pulled off in front of Western High.
“Thanks Sam.”
Just as Sam started to drive off,
“Sam.”
Sam turned his head and looked out of the window.
“Can we have lunch together?”
“Uh…I’ll call you.” Sam smiled. He turned the steering wheel and took off.
Sam pulled into the parking lot of West High. A whole new year was going to start. He wondered what it would be like but one thing for sure, this year would not be as happy as it once had been last year.
Too much had changed.
Getting off the Porsche, she swung her long hair to the back. It was floating with the wind; the sweet smell of the shampoo was smelled across the street.
Serena Pleasure.
She was wearing a tan top and a white skirt with a pair of silvery grey heels. A black bag was on her shoulder and with a pair of Marc Jacobs’s sunglasses on; she walked slowly toward the school gate.
Sam gasped when he saw Serena walking in front of him. The moment he saw her, he could not recognize her at all. She was so different from last year, so much prettier. He missed her a lot. His mind was vacillating between the thought of should he walk to her and say hi like nothing had happened? Or should he just pretend he did not see her?
Whatever, I’m going to her. Sam told himself. He closed the door of the driver side and walked across the street. He stopped and turned around when a hand grabbed him.
“Hey, Sam!” Joanna said with a very happy face.
“Joanna! I miss you!” Sam said and gave her a hug.
Joanna and Sam were good friends, but Sam was like being held hostage by
Sam released her, “Gosh, finally I’m free.” He smirked, out of the corner of his eyes, Serena was no where to be seen already.

“This year is a very special year. It’s your final year! You’ll be graduating from High school, you all will go to college, make important decisions, and you are no kids anymore!” Principal Doyle said, “Now, let’s have our dear, Ms Karen to tell us about the graduation trip to

Serena pushed opened the door, her head down busy filling out the form of the classes she was going to take this term.
“Sorry.” She apologized when she ran in someone; she raised her head. Sam was looking at her; he just looked at her but said nothing, not a word. Then he walked right past her. Serena frowned, shaking her head, knowing this year would be no difference from last year. Sam was going to take her as invisible again.
Serena sighed and walked to Ms Karen, “Good morning, Can I ask you something?” she said, putting down her books.
“Of course! Miss Pleasure.” Ms Karen said with a happy face.
“Am I invisible?” Serena asked with a sarcastic smile.
Ms Karen looked at her with doubt, she was totally lost, “I’m sorry?”
Serena shook her head, “Never mind,” she placed the form on the table, “I would like to enroll these classes.” She gave the form to her.
Ms Karen took it, studied it for a while and said, “Ok, there’s no problem, you can attend the classes.”
Serena nodded a thank you and left the office.
